•What is the area you will be covering?

•Will you want large bulbs, bubble bulbs, small bulbs, or even lights that are in the shapes of icicles?

•Will you have enough electrical outlets to supply the energy it will take to create the light scene you want?

•Will you need to use optical illusions to get the glow you are looking for?

•Where will you be placing the lights? Will it be on the trim of the house, or will it be on your trees etc?

•What other types of decorations will you be using with your lights?

When you have gotten these answers figured out, it will be much easier to know what bulbs and lights you will want to get. The key is making sure the lights work with your plans for the theme of your yard and house.

You will want to look at whether you are going to be going all white, all one color, or a mixture of the two. The reason is that each light will complement the lights around it. If you want a collage of many different colors, then go colored. If you want a white base that looks like natural glowing ice and snow, then that is another option.
