The Santa Clause

This movie, with Tim Allen from the Home Improvement series in the main role of Scott Calvin, was so successful it resulted in two more movies. In the original, the Santa Clause, Tim Allen plays a divorced father who has his young son with him for Christmas. Things aren’t going well for the father and son, with Scott burning the Christmas dinner and Charlie wishing he was with his mother and stepfather. However, things become more exciting when Santa Clause falls off the roof of Scott’s house. Hoping to impress his son, Scott puts on Santa’s suit without realizing he is now the new Santa Claus. They take a trip to the North Pole, and when Scott wakes up the next morning he thinks it was all a dream. However, when he begins to grow a Santa beard and gain weight, he realizes it wasn’t just a dream and must now deal with being the new Santa Claus. This is a funny, entertaining movie the whole family will enjoy.

Muppet Christmas Carol

Any fan of the Muppets will love Jim Henson’s Muppet Christmas Carol, a fun take on the classic Christmas story by Charles Dickens. The cast includes Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit, Miss Piggy as his wife, Grover as the narrator, and the other Muppet favorites including Fozzie Bear, Beaker, and others. Michael Caine plays Mr. Ebenezer Scrooge, the greedy penny-pincher who makes everyone around him miserable. He is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve as they take him throughout the Past, Present, and Future in an attempt to show him how his life will end up if he continues his miserly ways while showing him the true meaning of Christmas. This movie is a musical and fun for everyone, old and young alike. Muppet fans will particularly love it.

It’s a Wonderful Life

For many people, Christmas wouldn’t be complete without watching It’s a Wonderful Life, a Christmas Classic. In it, a man named George Bailey, played by James Stewart, is frustrated with the direction his life has taken and is prepared to take his own life on Christmas Eve, but an angel appears and shows him a vision of what the world would be like if he had never been born. This classic movie may sound depressing, but it’s great for people of all ages and teaches us to acknowledge hardships and difficulties in life but at the same time to recognize the importance of friendship and celebrating life. Interestingly enough, this popular movie won no awards and was not popular when released, yes has grown into one of the most-loved movies of our day.
