If you love painting and religion why not combine the two together and get into some bible painting crafts? There are some really fun crafts you can do when it comes to painting with or without your kids. You can use bible painted crafts to decorate your home, give away as a gift, or just make with your kids for a fun activity. Here are some ideas for some bible painting crafts:

Murals, Paintings and Pictures

Although you may not think of these as craft type activities they are considered to be such. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced painter you can really get into painting bible themes with murals, paintings, or pictures. You can paint really simple murals and paintings; paint by number with your kids, or even use water colors to paint bible themed pictures. If you’re really good at painting you can do some great work in your own home with murals and paintings to hang on your own wall.

Ceramics

If you’re into painting detail you might want to try your hand at ceramic painting. Some cities have stores that specifically sell ceramics you can paint however you want. Most cities have craft stores you can go into and can usually find some type of bible figure or statue to paint. Ceramics take quite a steady hand, a lot of patience, and some spare time. If you’re a super busy person you might not want to start with painting a ceramic figure and stick with larger items.

Wood Paintings

Wood carving has become quite popular in the United States and your chance of finding a piece to paint that has something to do with the bible is fairly good. If you go into your local craft store or wood working store you will find several different pieces to choose from. The great thing about wood is that you don’t have to look for a specific bible person. You could choose other wood objects that represent a parable or a bible story and then add your paint along with a favorite verse. Some pieces of furniture make great bible painting crafts because you can write scriptures on them and put biblical figures wherever you want them to go. For example, you can use wooden objects like a sun, moon, and star to represent a lesson being done on the creation. Or you might be able to find a wood craft of a lion’s head that could be used in a lesson on Daniel and the Lion’s den. Just make sure you get the right kind of paint to use on your wood project as this makes virtually all the difference in how it turns out. You will probably also want to get some sort of protective coating or stain to put over top of the paint job you do to ensure that it lasts more than a short while.

Stained Glass or Sun Catchers

For those painters who are quite experienced there are stained glass bible creations. For those of you who are not so experienced you can start with some simple sun catchers. Kids especially have a great time making these. If you’ve ever been in a cathedral you have probably noticed the exquisite stained glass windows of various biblical characters. You don’t have to take it to that extreme but it definitely is a challenging craft to try your hand at. Sun catchers can be found at a local craft book store that you can use with kids to help reinforce a particular lesson or parable.

Painting is definitely an art form and using the bible as your inspiration can create some incredible bible painting crafts. Start out slow if this is your first time using paints and work your way up to the big stuff.
