Sometimes old crafts just need a facelift. Maybe they are serving their purpose very well, but there color is getting dingy and they need to be brightened up a little bit. Or maybe a person is looking for a new twist on the same craft they have been doing for years. No matter what the problem, this article is here to help. It will give ideas to help anyone’s craft receive a facelift.

Paint

Sometimes all an old craft needs is some new paint. If the problem is that an old craft, such as a chair, table, or some picture frames is outdated or its colors are fading, a fresh coat of paint can do the trick. But don’t just stop there. Instead of painting the chair or frame the original color, a person could choose a bright red or vibrant shade of orange instead. It is a fun new trend to have a few pieces of decoration or furniture in a room that pop with color and this can be a perfect trend for a facelift for a person’s crafts.

If someone is beginning a new craft and wants to do something different than they have every done before, they could use paint to add amazing color and even texture to their crafts. A person can paint a bookshelf a bright yellow and use a sponge to give the paint texture. Or they could even use paint samples instead of paint. Many of these in common hues can be glued onto a small end table for a very interesting new look.

Fabric and Ribbon

Fabric comes in many different colors and textures. Picking just the right fabric can definitely give a person’s crafts a facelift. Going along with the color trend, pieces of material can really brighten up a craft. A person can make new curtains or a new table cloth by hemming brightly colored fabric. Fabric can also be used to recover couch or decorative bed pillows. This can give the room and update and it may even look like the person purchased a new sofa or bedspread!

Ribbon, too, comes in beautiful colors, and textures, as well as different widths. Ribbon can be wrapped around vases, candles, or baskets to give them a beautiful facelift. Ribbon can be used instead of wire in some crafts. For example, a picture or wreath can be hung using fun ribbon instead of a plain wire. It can be fun to change out the ribbon in crafts throughout the year depending on the holiday and the season.

Sparkle

Sparkles can give just about anything a facelift, especially crafts. If a person is making their own candles, they can add glitter to the wax. Fake jewels can be glued onto frames or containers that can be put into little girls’ bedrooms. Old mirrors can be lined with jewels and sparkles as well to brighten up its look. There are also many ribbons and fabric that have sparkles mixed into their design. These items can be used to recover cushions or pillows, to cover a headboard, or to makeover an old lampshade.

The most important thing that a person needs to remember when they want to give their crafts a facelift is that they may need to try something that they never have before. Sometimes a person may end up with a craft that did not turn out how they wanted. But other times they may get just the facelift they are looking for.
