Making Mosaics

Making mosaics is another kid friendly craft. Making mosaics is a simple idea that can be applied to a number of different projects. It is a great kid’s craft because it is nearly impossible to make a bad mosaic and there is no right or wrong way to do it. Mosaics are basically large pictures made out of pieces of smaller pictures. Many people have mosaic tiles in their home that together form an appealing shape or design. You can apply these same art principles to paper. Use small pieces of colored paper to create a picture. Simply glue each of the smaller pieces strategically so that you end up with the look that you want. Children can easily start and finish this project on their own with only paper and glue (no scissors are needed, simply rip the small pieces you need to form the mosaic from larger pieces of paper. Ideas for how you can incorporate the spring theme into your craft would include having your children create a mosaic of an outdoor spring scene or of their favorite flower or animal.
