Friendship Bracelet ResourcesFriendship bracelets have come and gone through each era. They are quite popular among young teens and even early elementary aged girls. Girls can create meaningful friendship bracelets from all different patterns and materials for themselves or for others as gifts. They come in every color of the rainbow and can be personalized for anyone.

Where to find materials and ideas for friendship bracelets

Each friendship bracelet you make can represent a part of you or someone else. Each one is a unique representation of whoever has made it and can sometimes represent the sincerity of your friendship. Finding materials and ideas on how and what to make is simple. Here are some ideas on where to find materials and ideas:

Craft stores

If you live in a bigger city you should have access to some type of craft store like Roberts or Michaels. This is probably the best place to start when it comes to ideas and materials. It’s one stop shopping with a craft store. They will probably have ideas in magazines, books, or even on display as well as all the materials you need to make the bracelet.

Wal-Mart

If you don’t find what you’re looking for at a crafts store or you don’t have one where you live then try going to Wal mart. They have a craft and sewing department with a variety of ideas and materials and usually for a lower price than you might find a craft store. They may not have the exact color you’re looking for but you can generally find a pattern of what you’re looking for. Once you’re home you might be able to tweak it to fit your needs.

Fabric stores

Again, most bigger cities have at least one fabric store you can go to for any type of sewing project. If you’ve never been into a fabric store you should know that they sell more than fabric for big projects. They also have a variety of materials for craft making. The only disadvantage with fabric stores is that they don’t generally have a lot of idea books. You will have to look for that somewhere else.

Online

The Internet has made it possible for you to find pretty much whatever you want without even leaving your home. A simple search on Google or Yahoo will bring up pages of information. There are hundreds of web sites devoted to ideas for friendship bracelets as well as ones that sell materials. You really don’t even have to leave your home to get started. The down side to ordering things online however is that you have to wait for it to get to your house.

Different types of friendship bracelets:

There are several different types of friendship bracelets you can make. Here are a few different ideas:

Embroidery floss friendship bracelets- This is what generally comes to mind when you think of a friendship bracelet. They’re fun to make and don’t cost a ton of money to make. They are made with embroidery floss which you can find almost anywhere.

Gimp friendship bracelets-Gimp is a plastic lacing that can be used to make bracelets, key chains, pullies, etc. The gimp friendship bracelet is fun to make and is always in fashion. Kids love working with this material.

Beaded friendship bracelets-Popular among all ages but can be more expensive than simple embroidery floss.

Hemp friendship bracelets

Leather friendship bracelets- Not as popular because the material is more expensive.

Creating meaningful friendship bracelets is fun for all ages and can be done on a small budget. They’re perfect for that young age and even teenagers who want to show their appreciation for their best friend.
