While playing dice games is always fun, why not up the challenge by playing with multiple dice? Dice games that use many dice tend to be fast-paced and lots of fun. Clarify the rules, gather your dice, your family and friends and get ready for a night of dice games filled with fun and laughter!
* Aces – Also known as “To The Center?, “Deuces To The Left? and “Fives To
The Right?, “Aces? is one of the most fascinating of all dice games. It is very popular in the Philippines. In fact, in swank Manila social clubs, it is not uncommon for the each player to have his own personalized cup.
Number of players: Any number of people can play, but each player must have a dice cup and five dice.
Game play: Each player throws five dice and the player throwing the highest poker hand, Ace is high and 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 represent King, Queen, Jack, ten and nine respectively, takes any seat and is the first shooter; the player throwing the second highest hand sits on his left, shooting second and so on. Tying players must shoot again until all players are seated.
The first shooter begins by throwing five dice. Each thrown die showing an ace is placed in the center of the playing surface; all 2’s are passed to the player on the shooter’s left; all dice showing 5’s to the player on his right. The player continues to throw until he either fails to throw an ace, 2 or 5 or until he has no dice left. At that point, the person to the player’s left goes. Players who have no dice left can remain in the game because the player to the left or the right may pass his dice to them at any time. When all but one die have been placed in the center the player who throws the last ace with the last die wins.
* Double Cameroon – While this game requires some extensive scoring, it is lots of fun using so many dice.
Number of players: Between 2 and 10 people may play
Equipment needed: Ten dice, a dice cup and a score sheet ruled so that a record may be kept.
Game play: The first player is decided by lot, then play moves from player to player on the left, or clockwise. Each player takes his turn throwing the ten dice. After each cast he may stop for that turn, or may pick up any of the dice from the table and cast them again. From the dice showing after his third cast, or after the cast at which he chooses to stop, he must choose two combinations of five dice from among the ten combinations permitted in the rules; the two must be different from any he has chosen in a previous turn. The allowable combinations are:
Any number of aces in five dice, count 1 each.
Any number of twos in five dice, count 2 each.
Any number of threes in five dice, count 3 each.
Any number of fours in five dice, count 4 each.
Any number of fives in five dice, count 5 each.
Any number of sixes in five dice, count 6 each.
Little Cameroon, l-2-3-4-5, counts as 21.
Big Cameroon, 1-2-3-4-5-6, counts as 30.
A Full House, or any three of a kind and any pair, counts as 28.
Bug, or five of a kind, counts as 30.
After each player has had five turns, the game ends and the player with the highest point score wins. Experienced players share a tip: players should try, during their first five turns, to achieve the four combinations which require arbitrary alignments of the throws. Players must become increasingly careful to work for the combinations which score highest. A score around 170 is considered a good score, 214 being the highest possible score is 214.
A Double Cameroon score sheet is shown below. The score sheet is arranged for five players, in this case called A, B, C, D and E. With each turn a player must choose to score in two of the categories and his score in each category is entered in the column under his or her initial.
