If you are like many people in this world, you probably like crafts. You love to spend time making something beautiful or interesting. You love your hobby and feel that it is worth while regardless of the fact that you don’t get paid to do it. Making a great craft is its own reward, just as playing sports can be there own reward. But what if you could sell your hobby crafts online? Wouldn’t it be great to actually make some money with your hobby? Few people imagine actually being able to make a living doing this. But even if you don’t want to make a living selling your crafts, you might like to make a little bit of extra money. It can be nice to have someone appreciate your work and show that appreciation by giving some sort of money. Naturally if you want to make a business out of selling your crafts there are some things you should know. The most important thing to know is that you will need to use the Internet. Crafting has traditionally been a local activity, but with the Internet you can get your crafts out there. Whereas before you could only get those crafts to a few friends or take them to a fair, now you can make them available to millions, if not billions of people. You can post pictures of your crafts on great craft websites and allow craft enthusiasts to see them. When you use the Internet to sell your crafts you have literally expanded your customer base infinitely. So how can you sell crafts online? Are there any tricks that you should know about before you try to expand your business to other buyers?

One thing to remember is that selling things online is not an easy process. You don’t just put your stuff online in pictures and hope that people buy it. You need to have some sort of marketing idea, and probably the same one you use for your business in your local area. Web pages are complicated advertising spaces. They need to have some sort of general design and appeal. Especially in a business that emphasizes aesthetics and beauty, if your website does not look good people are not going to take a look at your crafts.

Another important idea is to inform the customers you already have of your new website. Don’t discuss the customers you have. They might be your best advertising. Now that you have a website your existing customers will be able to tell their friends where to look for your crafts online. It would also be a good idea to try to attract new customers through the site. Be creative and think of some sort of incentive program for introducing new customers to the site.
Another good idea is to spread your online advertising with paper. Whenever you write your name for any business purpose be sure to include your web site address. People will start to identify you with your website. If it is well designed they will recognize who you are and you will quickly build a larger clientele. Try advertising in a craft advertising space or booklet. Because you are into crafting you will know where to look. This applies equally to things like craft fairs or shows. When people come to see your booth they will want to know more about your crafts. If they know where to look online they will and you will have another customer. Remember that actual face time with your crafts is extremely important. The advantage of a website is that you have just taken that initial impression and then allow it to continue indefinitely with a web page.
