There are many different crafts you can try if you want to start crafting. However, there are some that are better for beginners. Here are some alphabet crafts for crafting beginners.
Animal ABC Book
* Materials You’ll Need:
o Notebook
o Pen or pencil
o Old magazines
o Scissors
o Markers
o Camera or photos of animals
* Directions:
o The next time you go to the zoo, take a notebook with you and write down the name of each animal you see along with at least one interesting fact about each animal.
o Next, either draw, or take pictures of, each animal.
o When you get home, you are ready to start your ABC book of animals.
o For each letter of the alphabet, think of an animal that starts with that letter.
o Draw, find a picture of or post your photo of each animal for each page.
o Next, write down the animal’s name and an interesting fact about that animal on the page, either above or below the picture of the animal
o If the zoo didn’t have an animal that began with a certain letter try to think of one on your own. You can find numerous resources to help you come up with interesting facts as well.
o Your book is complete when you have a page for every letter of the alphabet.
o If you did the pages on separate sheets of paper, you’ll need to laminate and bind the pages together to form a book.
ABC Scrapbook
* Materials You’ll Need:
o Whatever you find that you can add to your scrapbook
o Scrapbook
o Markers
* Directions:
o First, choose your scrapbook; they come in a variety of size and materials, including 5 x 5 soft cover and 11 x 11 hard cover. Bigger scrapbooks work best to make sure that everything fits.
o Secondly, create a layout for your scrapbook. It doesn’t need to be complicated; in fact, you could vary it page by page if you like.
o Next, for each letter, think of a person, place, thing or idea that your child can relate to such as G is for Grandma and Grandpa or M is for Mommy. Include pictures of grandma and grandpa as well as Mommy.
o Next, create a personalized title page. Include your child’s name, date of birth and other little details.
o Now you are going to use card stock to create the actual pages. While you can include some generic things that your child will know, such as apples, you also want to include things that have personal meaning to that child.
o Once you’ve created the pages, embellish them with scrapbook embellishments.
o To make the project even more interesting, use colors associated with each letter, blue for B, for example, to embellish that page.
o Once you have gotten all of the pages done you, put your scrapbook together and bind it with string or wire or have it spiral bound at Kinkos.
