Where to Find Easy Origami InstructionsOrigami instructions are relatively easy to find, whether you’re searching your local library, the bookstore or online. More often than not, the trick is locating a specific set of origami instructions that is easy for the user to understand. While some written origami instructions are not accompanied by diagrams or pictures, others are accompanied by diagrams and photos that help the origami maker see exactly what their object should look like at various stages of its creation.

The internet is a great source for all kinds of information, including easy-to-follow origami instructions. In addition to finding written instructions, most sets of instructions come with diagrams and pictures of the steps in the origami process. Origami video tutorials, which walk a hobbyist step-by-step through the creation of an origami shape, are available online. So, whether you learn best through visualizing, hearing or reading, finding instructions online that will work best for you should be easy.

One thing that the internet may not be able to offer is a cohesive set of instructions that cover basic folds needed in order to understand and complete some of the steps described in the instructions. The writer or creator of an origami shape often will have his or her own jargon relative to how you are to make a fold. For example, a hamburger fold may be the same thing as a vertical fold and a hot dog fold may be the same as a horizontal fold, but unless you have some introductory or background information, it would be difficult to decipher this specific origami code. Another advantage of having your easy origami instructions in a book is that you can refer back to those instructions at any time. When you follow online instructions, print them out if you want to use them again as, if you leave the page you were on, getting back to it can be difficult, even if you have bookmarked the page because URLs change frequently.

Your local library is a great source for finding easy origami instructions in all mediums as you can find everything there, from internet resources to books and magazines. With all of these resources neatly organized, finding origami instructions that match your skill level should be relatively easy. After all, even if the instructions that you find look easy, if they do not match your skill set there is little advantage to having them.

Although, easy origami instructions can be found almost anywhere, keep in mind that many origami figures are more difficult to make, regardless of the simplicity of the instructions. There are some origami figures, such as dragons, that do not have easy instructions because they are not easy to make. Before you search for instructions, make sure you have a good feel for what level of origami and what figure you want to create. One other point to ponder is that an individual’s understanding and level of time commitment play a part in the actual complexity of any set of instructions.
