Candy Topiary for Fun

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

CandyHeartsThe names of candies these days can be used to make any topiary fitting to a wide range of personal situations. For example, candy topiaries covered with breath mints would make a humorous prom dance centerpiece. A topiary with “Pay Day” miniature candy bars would make a funny house warming or workplace gift. Use fun size “Butterfinger” candy bars to make a topiary of apology for breaking a borrowed item or being forgetful in another way.

Of course there are many more ideas for what types of topiaries you can make. You may want to visit your local candy shop or candy bulk section to get inspiration for other themes in a topiary that you can make for someone else. Also keep in mind that you can make the topiary last a lot longer of you avoid using candies that can melt or discolor over time. Hard candies that are left in their wrappers are usually the best option if you have longevity in mind. To make your job even easier, use suckers or lollipops as your candy decoration. Because these candies already have sticks, all that you need to do is press them into the spherical piece of foam.

Use anything from plastic grass to moss for the base of the topiary. A nice ribbon wrapped around the neck of the topiary or around the top of the pot adds a great finishing touch to everything. A ribbon also provides a place where you can attach a card for your recipient. In that card you may want to explain why you chose to decorate your topiary as you did and whether or not the candies that you want to use are edible or not (depending on the method that you have used to adhere them).
