Materials
A piece of paper
Thin cardboard
Scissors
Pencil
Markers, crayons, or paint
Tape
2 pennies for each butterfly
Small lump of clay and a small stick, these are optional
Instructions
- You need to make a perfectly symmetrical butterfly for this craft. So to do that trace half a butterfly on a folded piece of paper and then cut it out
- Trace the butterfly shape onto the cardboard
- Cut out the butterfly and decorate it using crayons, markers or paint
- Tape two pennies to the back of the butterfly
- You can now balance the butterfly’s head on a pencil eraser. If it doesn’t balance you will need to adjust the position of the coins to get it to balance
- You can also make a stand for the butterfly by putting a stick into a ball of clay
- Keep in mind that the center balance of the butterfly is close to the spot directly between the coins. So if you move the coins you will move the center of balance for the butterfly
