School is a time to be creative. When your kids are in preschool, they color a lot and learn about a lot of things. They learn about holidays too. Teachers have to be creative in decorating to make the room more inviting and make it stimulate their minds to learn and be creative. Bulletin boards are a great place for decorations and to be creative. Let’s look at some preschool aged Valentine’s Day bulletin board ideas.

One idea is to cut out hearts from colored paper. Use red, white, and pink. Have the children write their names on the hearts. If they don’t know how to write their complete name, then trace their name on the paper with dotted lines and let them go over it. Put all the hearts on the bulletin board. You will probably want to have something in the background, but this is a great way to get the kids involved and learning how to write their names.

Another idea is to get a larger piece of paper and cut out a heart from it. Decorate the heart any way you want to. Let the preschoolers draw a picture of themselves or have them bring in a picture of themselves. Make sure that they put their names on the drawing or near the picture or drawing. Title the board in a cute name for Valentine’s Day including the children in it.

If your children know how to write their names or other people’s names, try this idea. Create a background on the bulletin board. Write something like we love… or just something having to do with Valentine’s Day. Let the children write who they love, why they love certain people, and things they love about anything. You don’t have to do it in a straight line, but let the board look like a wall people have written their names on.

Have the children paint pictures and then hang them up on the bulletin board. Preschoolers won’t always know how to write things, but they can often draw what they mean. Let them draw someone they love. Let them draw their family, friends, or pets. Hang the pictures up on the bulletin board. As a lesson you can even talk about love and what it means in the world.

For backgrounds, use pink, red, and white paper. Have sayings or quotes about love. You want to teach your students about the importance of love and why we should love our neighbors and friends. Don’t just have the Valentine’s Day be about candy but teach them about the importance of loving the people we are around.
