An ordinary piece of white paper is the basis for this inexpensive glitter snowflake craft. It’s simple and quick to make, but it will still challenge your creative instincts.
What you will need:
- Paper
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Newspaper
- Craft glue
- Paint brush
- Silver glitter
- Paper plate
Instructions for the project:
Fold a piece of perfectly square paper in half. Carefully fold the paper in half again at the folded edge. You will want to crease only the center point to mark the exact middle of the paper. Fold the paper over to a diagonal angle at the halfway mark you just made. Make sure that you do not crease it yet. Fold over the other side until the edges of the folds are in line. When the two folds overlap completely, you can crease the edges of the paper. Cut the bottom edge of the paper into a semicircle. Next you will make small diagonal cuts on the semicircular edge of the paper. Then you will need to cut similar patterns out of the sides and tip of the paper. Try to make these cuts as symmetrical as possible to create a more even snowflake. Carefully open the snowflake. You can use the edge of a fingernail or a plastic tool to smooth out the creases. Lay down some newspaper in order to protect your workspace. Using a slender paintbrush to apply glue to the snowflake in attractive patterns but don’t coat the entire surface. You will want to leave some white space. You can vary your design by using curlicues, straight lines and interesting angles. After you have made a few designs on your snowflake, sprinkle them with silver glitter. Sprinkle the excess glitter from the paper plate onto the snowflake. Allow the snowflake to dry completely. Repeat the gluing and glitter application process on the reverse side.
