Valentine’s Day is a holiday that celebrates love. Legend has it that priest Valentine went against the orders of Emperor Cladius II from third century Rome, and was put to death as a result. What were those orders? Well, Claudius II wanted to build up a strong military, and he felt like young single men fought better than married men, so he outlawed young men from marrying. Valentine thought this unfair, and so married people in secret, putting love above his own safety.

While this is a great story, it does not necessarily mean that your preschooler is going to care that much about Valentine’s Day. A few fun Valentine’s Day crafts will help spark their interest, and help them love the day about Love!

Here are just a few Valentine’s Day crafts ideas:

Candy heart collage: For this activity you are going to get your kid’s taste buds drooling, and their creativity roaring.

What You Need:

Take your four pieces of poster board and cut them into big hearts. Then have your preschooler write their name across the heart. Take your red food coloring and dye your white school glue so that it is red or pink. Give each kid a popsicle stick to use to apply, and let them paint the hearts with glue, and place them on their name and around the heart poster board to make a candy heart collage.
