• Coffee filter Easter eggs-
These colorful “eggs” can be used alone for decoration or attached to the front of a piece of card-stock for a seasonal card.
Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
Time required: 20 minutes (Does not include drying time)
Keep in mind that the above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and can take more or less time depending on your circumstances.
You will need:
- Coffee Filter
- Food Coloring
- Drinking Straw
Instructions for the project:
Have the child cut the coffee filter into an oval, egg shape. Measure out about 1/4 cup of water into a glass dish or cup. Add a few drops of food coloring to the water until you get the desired color. Repeat this process for however many different colors you want to use in the project. Once your colors are completely mixed you can use the straw to add the colors to your egg shape. Dip a straw into the desired color. Carefully cover the end of your straw with your finger so the colored water stays in it. Gently move the straw to your filter and hold it over the area you want colored. Remove your finger from the end of the straw and the colored water will then run onto the egg! Repeat this process for as many colors as you want to use. For more variety you can use both a large drinking straw and a small straw made for stirring drinks. Once you are done coloring your egg, set it aside to dry completely.
