March is a month that many people love to welcome. It is just on the edge of winter and spring and is a time of year when many people enjoy spending time outside and learn more about the outdoors and nature. Deciding what to do during the month of March for a classroom bulletin board can sometimes be a challenge because there are so many things happening in that month. But here are some ideas you can use to make a collage of everything happening in March.

Your bulletin board is a place where you can put all kinds of information about what is going on in your classroom for the month and March is a great month to do a lot of fun and different things on your bulletin board. The center of the bulletin board should be a calendar of the month of March. It should be large enough for the whole class to see and also needs to have room to designate the holidays and significant events of the month. The days will be labeled for their importance and will also show any birthdays you have for children in the month of March.

One of the significant holidays in March is St. Patrick’s Day. This day can really be a lot of fun for the kids and learning about the color green and all the meanings it has can also be a useful way to put something on your bulletin board. St. Patrick’s Day is also closely associated with the four leaf clover and the luck that goes along with it. Having a spot on the board dedicated to St. Patrick’s Day can be a lot of fun and it’s also a good idea to make little clovers and hide them all over the board to see if the kids can find all of them. You could also include a leprechaun and his pot of gold and the rainbow leading up to it. Share the story of leprechauns and also some of the history of Ireland and the origin of St. Patrick’s Day to help the kids understand more about where the holiday came from.

Another very significant part of March is the arrival of the spring season and when people start noticing the change in the weather and season. The first day of spring is on March 21st each year and this marks a great time of year for many people. Spring can bring more flowers and trees and people really start noticing the green around them that is happening and all the new growth in nature. Baby animals start to appear as well as parents begin bringing them out into the open and birds start chirping again and returning from their warmer winter hangouts. Make animals another important part of your bulletin board and talk about all the different things that animals do during the springtime. You can have pictures of them all over the board along with images of spring flowers and plants. You can even have children bring in petals or pieces of flowers that they have at their homes or even on the school grounds and you can display them on the bulletin board.

Be sure to make March a very enriching month and help the children understand the value and importance of the natural world and the role it plays in each of our lives. This can be a great time to show and discuss energy conservation and going green which can also go along with the St. Patrick’s holiday. March is a time of great joy for many people and having a great bulletin board collage can make the month even more exciting for you and the kids in your class.
