All you need is a galvanized wash tub, or large bowl or another deep object. Fill the wash tub halfway full with water. You will want as many apples as it will take to cover the entire surface of the water. Then take the apple core the apple using and apple corer. Cut out only the top 1 inch of the core in each apple. Then take the tea light candles and insert them into the apples and place the apple into the water. They will float, giving you a glowing light, beautiful in the fall evenings.
Apple crafts not only look festive but they can look delicious as well. This craft will look appetizing unfortunately it is not edible. Things you will need are wooden apples, Styrofoam plates, caramel colored paint, craft sticks, mod podge, Styrofoam bowl, fake nuts or candies, wax paper, cellophane, and ribbon.
Begin by painting the wooden apple with the caramel color paint. Make sure to brush the paint on this to make it look like real caramel. Allow time for the apple to dry and then apply a second coat of paint if necessary. If you do paint a second coat onto the apple make sure to let it dry again. You will then take a craft stick and cut it in half. Place some mod podge at the stem of the apple. Place the cut end of the craft stick in the mod podge and allow it to dry thoroughly. Then pour some mod podge into a Styrofoam bowl, you will use a paintbrush to thoroughly cover the painted apple with the mod podge. This helps to give the wooden apple a shiny appearance. Then place the fake nuts or candies onto a plate. Brush your apple one more time with a thick layer of the mod podge and roll the apple into the nuts or fake candies. Place the apple onto the wax paper and allow drying over night. Then wrap the apple with cellophane and tie with a ribbon giving it a realistic appearance to an edible caramel apple.
If you want to try something than can be a useful decoration you may want to try the apple kitchen utensil holder. All you will need is a container such as an oatmeal container or something similar. Cut a piece of brown paper bag to fit around the container, or any material that you choose. Take one half of the apple and dip it into the paint and press onto the paper. This allows you to create any design you would like. You can even create your name on the sides using slices of apples instead. Once the paint is dry, glue it to your container. Now you have created a utensil holder or eve a vase for other decorations.
