Books to Read:

Just Me and My Dad

by Mercer Meyer

Daddy and Me

by Karen Katz

Father’s Day Gift Idea: Back Massager-Dad will love this easy to make gift. However, keep in mind that this craft needs intensive adult supervision for most preschool age crafters.

You will need:

4 Large wooden macramé beads or spools from used thread.

Twine or cord – 60” long

Scissors

Ruler

The first step is to measure and cut twine/cord into two 30” pieces. Have the child place the four spools or beads in a line leaving 3” between each one. You may need to help them string one cord in and out of each spool. You do this by starting from the top left, go down then up the next spool/bead, go down and up the third spool/bead and down and up the 4th spool/bead. Make sure that you leave approximately 3” of twine/cord in between each one. Next have them start on the right and do the same thing. This will give you a ladder affect to your spool/beads. Tie a double knot on left end spool and right end spool, where two cords meet. Tie both ends together. This will form handles at both ends.

Special presentation-As part of the Father’s Day theme, it can be good to have a few Dads come in and talk about what they do. Children will be thrilled to see their father in the classroom.

Father’s Day Gift Idea: My Kids Walk All Over Me Shirt/Apron-Dads will cherish this memento of their little ones feet.

You will need:

Fabric Paint

Paint Brush

Children’s Feet

Fabric Pen (Black)

T-Shirt (light color) / Apron

Baby Wipes (to make cleaning feet easier)

Card Board to place inside the shirt.

If you are doing this with siblings you will need to assign each child, in the family a color. Then you will paint the feet of each child, with one particular color and have them walk over the shirt. It can be easier if you do only one foot print at a time. You can use baby wipes to wipe off extra paint from the child’s foot. Remember that the child’s whole foot print, does not need to be on the shirt. Once the shirt or apron is completely dry, you can use the fabric pen to write “My Kids Walk All over Me!”
