Preschool file folder games are colorful games made not only with in a file folder but the folder is a part of the game itself. Preschool file folder games are easy to make and great to tote around for easy access. Most preschool file folder games are inexpensive to make and almost anyone can do it.
The supplies you will need to make preschool file folder games are, file folders, scissors, colored paper, markers, glue and self-adhesive Velcro. You can find file folders and Velcro at your local office supply store. File folders come in packs so you can conveniently make more than one Preschool file folder games. You can assemble file folder games for each subject and age group.
The first step in making your preschool file games is to choose what type of game you want to make. An alphabet game is a great one for children of this age. It helps them learn the letters and their sequence. Next, pick a shape you would like to use, for example, a square. Using a square can help teach the kids about the square shape. Then, using a ruler, draw 26 squares onto the colored paper, using many different colors of paper. Make the squares about two inches by two inches. After you have done this, cut out the squares. Next, write a letter on each square from A to Z in all capital letters. Try to make the letters go in a pattern according to the paper color. For example A is red, B is blue, C is yellow, D is red, E is blue, and so on. After your first set of squares is complete, you will then glue them onto the file folder in alphabetical order.
The next step would be to draw 26 more squares that are two inches by two inches. Then you will write a letter onto each square. Make sure these letters are lower case and that the color matches. The letter ‘A’ square that is glued into the file folder will be the same color as the lower case ‘a’. And so on.
With your markers, you may want to decorate the front of the file folder game with a title defining that the game is for learning the alphabet. You can also cut out a couple more squares and write a capital letter on one and a lower case letter on the other, then arrange them onto the front of the game so if you have multiple alphabet preschool file folder games, you can find the one you are looking for easier.
Then you will want to get your file folder game laminated. Laminating your game will keep it protected and then you can use it over and over again. You will need to cut out your single lower case squares so they are separate and can be used how they need to be.
After doing this, the self-adhesive Velcro can be applied to both square types, the capital ones get the soft side and the lower case ones get the rough side of the Velcro. Velcro is used so you have a place to store your single pieces of the game; in this case, the lower case squares. This takes me to the object of the game, which is to match the lower case letters with the capital or upper case letters. This is a fun and creative way to teach and to learn.
