Solar System Scavenger Hunt

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

You can make a replica of the solar system and have a scavenger hunt at the same time. Encourage your children to search for round objects that you have in your home. They may find sports balls, circular candies or cereals, lids or round toys. Take some time to teach your child about each of the planets and find or alter a ball that most closely resembles that planet. Use the floor as your solar system and string to enclose the solar system. Encourage children to search for shapes that they think are appropriate for space. They may find “moon rock” in the back yard or the “light of the sun” with a flashlight. Not only will you be learning more about the individual planets and objects in the solar system but you will also be encouraging creativity.
