Almost every household has some paper bags lying around. Paper lunch bags and paper grocery bags are excellent tools to use when making crafts. Not only are paper bags inexpensive, but you can re-use the ones that you already have in creative ways. Below are some great paper bag craft ideas that you can do with your family.
Large paper bag costumes
Paper grocery bags are surprisingly sturdy, for being a simple bag, and you can use them for making all sorts of costumes and masks. To make a costume, all you need to do is cut out a hole in the bottom of the bag for your head and one hole on each side of the bag for arms. You can paint or decorate the front and the back of the bag costume with almost anything. You can attach fabric to the portion of the bag that will be lowest on your body to create a costume that has full lower body coverage. Adding other materials makes the paper bag seem less and less like a paper bag. Some examples of costume ideas include cutting a straight line through either the front or the back of the bag and making a cowboy vest. Another idea is to draw a giant lady bug or cookie on the side of the bag that will face forward. Masks are just as easy to make; you need only to cut eye holes in the bag and then decorate. Add hair, glasses, whatever you can think of!
