If you have an older desk set either in your home or already in your teen’s bedroom, you can strip off the old paint and hand paint the desk set. This is a great way to add personality to your teen’s bedroom. You can paint in solid colors either one color or use multiple colors. You can add fun designs to the sides and tops of the desk or even the chair. You can use stencils to paint shapes or words onto the desk and chair. The paint can be matched to the other colors in your teen’s bedroom or as the beginning of the color palette for the bedroom. Using fabric you can make a cushion for the desk chair.
Another fabric and paint teen bedroom craft is to paint picture frames or glue fabric to the frames. You can buy unpainted picture frames at any craft store or you can use older picture frames that you already have. If you are using older picture frames you will want to lightly sand the frame before painting or gluing fabric so that the paint or glue has something to adhere to. You can then paint the frames to match the other colors in your teen’s bedroom. You can also use fabric that matches the room or extra fabric from the sheets and comforters if you have any. This craft can use both fabric and paint by painting the frame and then putting fabric in the frame instead of a picture.
You can also use fabric as a teen bedroom craft to make pillows. These pillows can be any color that is already in the bedroom. You can also make the pillows in any shape which would add a different dimension to the bedroom. If you buy light colored fabric to make the pillows you can also use fabric paint on them to add names, dates or quotes. This is another craft for your teen bedroom that uses both fabric and paint.
If you want to just use fabric you can make your own comforter for your teen’s bedroom. Find fabric that you like and use quilting to sew into it. Make sure to use the correct dimensions to use for the bed and allow for one inch seams all around. To take this a little further you can also make your own headboard using fabric. Find one that will compliment your comforter fabric and then use plywood cut to the shape you desire behind the bed. Cover the plywood with the complimentary fabric. You could also paint the headboard if you would like but would need to add varnish to cut down on splinters.
Just about any craft you paint can also be used to glue fabric too. You can use clay pots painted or glue fabric to them to use as storage for your teen. You can line shelves with fabric so that knick knacks stay in place and then paint the rest of the shelf. You can do the same with storage boxes. Artwork can be done for painting or you can add little pieces of fabric glued to a canvas. Fabric and teen bedroom crafts are really easy to do and can give you uninterrupted time alone with your teenager.
