Materials needed:

•Â½ inch thick piece of wood that measures 12′ L x 4″ W
•3 mini shaker pegs with ¼ inch plugs
•2 wooden apples ( 1 3/8″ x 1 ¼”) split so they make 4 pieces
•2 large sawtooth hangers
•Hot glue gun
•Wood stain or paint
•Green paint
•Brown paint
•Semi-gloss clear coat finish spray
•Drill with ¼ inch drill bit

Directions:

•Stain the piece of wood and the mini shaker pegs according to the stain directions or you can select a paint color and paint them

•Once the stain or paint is dry turn the rack over and attach the sawtooth hangers. You are going to want to place them 1 inch down from the top of the plaque with the side edge of the hanger coming no closer than 1 inch to the edge of the plaque

•Now turn the plaque back over and measure and pencil in 3 small X’s, 1 inch up from the bottom of the plaque in the following positions: 3″ in from each side, and one at 6″ in center

•Next draw a small 1/2 ” long horizontal line, 1 ½” up from the bottom in the following positions: 1 1/2 ” in from each side and 4 1/2 ” in from each side

•Using small amounts of hot glue, glue the apple halves to the plaque, lining the bottoms of the apples on the penciled lines

•Once the apples are in place lightly draw in a stem and a leaf at the top of each apple and paint the stem brown and the leaf green

•Now using your ¼” drill bit drill ¼” deep holes on the X’s

•Make sure that the holes are free from sawdust and then fill them with hot glue

•Insert the shaker pegs into the holes and allow the glue to dry.

•Once glue has dried remove any glue that has seeped up and around the edges of the pegs

•Once everything is secure and dry you can spray the plaque with the semi-gloss clear coat.

•Make sure that the room you are using is properly ventilated and apply 3 coats of the semi-gloss allowing each coat to dry for 24 hours in between
