Mother’s Day is a fun holiday to create preschool crafts for. Preschoolers will enjoy exercising their creativity to create a great gift for mom, and mom will love getting the hand made, and heartfelt craft creations from their little preschoolers. The following are a few ideas for Mother’s Day crafts that are easy and fun for preschoolers to make, and that moms will love.
Stepping stones:This craft is a little more involved and will require some help from adults, but is a fun craft to create, and is generally something that moms will cherish for a long time to come. For this craft you need to get quick dry cement. A ring or form of some type to create the stepping stone shape (often sold at craft stores). You will also want colored rocks, and other items to press into the wet cement to decorate it. Last, but not least, you will want a pencil, stick, or something else to etch out some words into the cement. For this craft, you are going to start by having an adult mix the cement and poor it into the form. Then have each preschooler press their handprints into the stepping stone. Etch their name and the date beneath the handprints, and then let them press in some colored stones, or other decorative pieces around the edges. Once dry, give the stepping stones with the handprints along with this little poem:
I miss you when we’re not together
I’m growing up so fast
See how big I’ve gotten
Since you saw me last?
As I grow, I’ll change a lot,
The years will fly right by.
You’ll wonder how I grew so quick
When and where and why?
So look upon these handprints
That are out upon your walk.
And memories will come back of me,
When I could barely talk.
Pasta heart plate:For this craft for preschoolers you will need paper plates, white craft glue, and pasta (preferably smaller shaped noodles rather than spaghetti). What you will want to do is help the preschooler use the craft glue to write out “Mom” with a heart around it, or just draw a big heart on their paper plate. Then, give them the pasta and let them stick it into the glue so that it will dry and create a pasta shaped heart. You can run a ribbon through the plate to make it a door hanger. You can let the kids write their names, or a message inside the heart, or you can let them give it to their moms with just the heart on it. They will have a blast creating the hearts, and may want to add more things, pictures, words, shapes, etc. to their masterpiece before giving it to mom. When doing preschool crafts remember that they may need help with cutting or gluing, so be sure to have adult supervision.
