Stained Glass Candleholder

Another great variation on the stained glass craft is making a stained glass candle holder. And while this craft is actually going to use glass (or plastic), it won’t involve cutting or soldering. This craft is probably suited better to school age children than preschoolers. First find the jar or container you want to make into a stained glass candle holder. The container needs to be clear so that light can shine through and make the stained glass effect. You will also need tissue paper and clear glue to make the tissue paper stick to the glass. Cut several colors of tissue paper into small pieces that will make an attractive design when a candle or other light shines through it. When you have cut out the pieces of tissue paper, mix the glue with some water to make it easier to work with. Soak the tissue paper in the glue mixture and stick it to the inside of the glass container you will be using for a candle holder. Repeat this step until you have the entire inside of the candle holder covered. You can make specific shapes or designs using the same method, but many people prefer a more random design. You can also add glitter or other small objects to give the design more flare and attractiveness. This is a great way for kids to personalize a gift that will actually be used by adults. If you choose to make this kind of stained glass craft, it is important to remember that you shouldn’t put anything that is going to be eaten inside the container, because the inside is covered with glue and tissue paper.
