Old oatmeal containers are generally very sturdy and can take some pretty hard abuse before they really need to be thrown away. So why not re-use the container as a container. There are many people who purchase their oatmeal in bulk (significantly less expensive) and then simply re-fill their old containers. You can also use your container for other objects that need to be organized around your house. An oatmeal container is typically tall enough to store kitchen spoons and spatulas in. Take the container out to the garage to store your loose objects in. An old oatmeal container can also be covered in plain paper or even a thinly pressed metal, so that to look at it you would not automatically assume that it was once used to hold your breakfast food.
