Crafts are a great way to help kids get involved and enjoy the holidays. Often the holiday celebrations are religious, involve big meals, or family gatherings. Making crafts helps your child feel more a part of the action, and better prepared to enjoy the holiday excitement. The following are three fun ideas for Easter kid crafts:
Cup bunnies: These cute little bunnies work great as place holders at a table for dinner, or as decorations on a windowsill or shelf. They are fun to make, and extra cute!
Here’s what you need:
- Plain white paper cups
- Big google eyes
- Glue
- Black marker
- Pink buttons
- Cotton balls or white pom poms
- White felt cut into the shape of bunny ears
Step one: Turn the cup upside down. You can glue it to a piece of paper if that will help.
Step two: Glue one felt bunny ear to each side of the cup, at the top, so that it flops over the little lip, and hangs down the side.
Step three: Glue the google eyes onto the cup to create your bunny eyes.
Step four: A little below the google eyes, glue the pink button, it will act as the bunny nose.
Step five: Draw on bunny whiskers by the pink nose.
Step six: Turn it around, and glue the cottom ball to the back of the cup as the little bunny tail.
If you want to use it as name plates for the dinner table, you can use the black marker to write the name of the guest on the back of the bunny, above the little rabbit tail.
Pom Pom Easter pets: These cute little pets are fun for kids to make, and to keep.
Here is what you need:
- Large white, yellow, or pink pom poms
- Felt in various colors
- Small google eyes
- Smaller pom poms
To make these delightful little pets you first have to determine what pet you are going to make. If you are going to make a chickie for example, get a yellow pom pom that is large, and a smaller yellow pom pom as well. Start by gluing the small yellow pom pom to the big one, near the top. This is going to be the chick head and the chick body. Then glue the google eyes onto the smaller pom pom. Then use the felt to cut out a small beak, and glue that on as well.
Change it up to make the animal or Easter themed pet you wish to create. They are just tiny, and lots of fun.
Wood spoon Easter bunnies: These are cute, fun for kids to make, and also make great gifts.
Here’s what you need:
- Wooden spoons
- White paint
- White felt
- Ribbon
- Black paint
- Pink paint
- Paint brush
- Glue
First, paint the spoon white and let it completely dry. An adult will probably want to help all the way through this craft.
Next, cut 2 ear shaped pieces out of the white felt. Glue the pieces to the backside of the dried spoon.
Now make two bows out of your ribbon. Glue one to the front by the ears, and one to the base of the spoon, sort of like a bow tie.
Use black paint to dot out two eyes for the bunny, and thin lines to make the whiskers for the bunny. You may also want to use the pink to dot out a nose.
