One of my many fond memories of celebrating Easter as a child was also shared with my 2 sisters. My aunt, an exceptional seamstress, hand picked the fabric and pattern and created matching Easter dresses. In addition to the perfectly tailored dress we always received matching white gloves and of course the Easter bonnet or hats.
On Easter Sunday, it became a tradition for the 3 of us to stand on the front porch and have our photograph made. We still have those black and white pictures today that remind us of days gone by and the love that went making our Easter special.
My Aunt, Dorothy Elise Price, was one of the most sought after seamstresses in Starkville, MS and she created one of a kind fashions made of the finest fabrics for the well-to-do women. With her left over remnants she created matching clothes for our Barbie dolls, nothing was ever wasted. Those were the days.
