Everyone loves Halloween. Some of your best memories may be of trick or treating, or putting together a fantastic costume. When I was young we looked forward to Halloween over almost any holiday on the calendar. When the night was over and our pillow cases were full of candy, we could hardly wait for the next year. Planning a costume was one of my favorite activities, although Halloween parties are probably the best thing to do on Halloween, besides trick or treating. At Halloween parties you get the best mix of cool costumes and great games. So if you are planning on throwing a Halloween party this fall, think about some cool games that could really spice up the show!
There are a number of fantastic games that you can plan for any Halloween party, and for people of all ages. So think about who will be coming to your party and what kinds of games they might like to play. Younger kids might like less complicated games, or ones that don’t require a tremendous amount of physical strength or ability. Nevertheless, children will like games that are fast-paced and will keep them constantly involved. Teens might like group games that they can play with their friends, and adults might like more cerebral games.
Here are a few great games you can play with almost any group of friends or family members:
An old favorite of everyone is the famous bobbing for apples. If you have never tried this one, you need to at your next Halloween party. To play bobbing for apples you will need a large basin that you can fill with cool water. The game can be even more fun if the water is very cold. Place medium or small apples in the water. Players take turns trying to get the apple into their mouth without any aid from their hands or arms. This can be fun to play with teams, although you should always be sure that there is someone there to monitor the players to make sure that no one chokes or falls into the water.
Another good game to play with a group is a relay race with a small pumpkin. The pumpkin can be placed on the player’head while they are running or under the chin, between the chin and the chest. Holding the pumpkin thusly, the players run back and forth, exchanging the pumpkin with their chins. This can really get things going and should be a lot of fun.
A game that I recently heard about involves teams, each of which has a thread on which they try to string the most pumpkin seeds in a certain amount of time. The player or team with the most pumpkin seeds at the end of the time limit wins the game.
Hide and go seek is a good game to play while it is still light outside. It can become dangerous in the dark. On Halloween it is particularly fun because everyone is dressed up in costumes and will be much scarier. If you have a group of people and it is still day time, try this one out. You will be pleasantly surprised by what an old classic can do for you.
If Halloween is one of your favorite holidays, make it a great one by throwing a party with some exciting games. Remember that the more games at these parties the merrier. So next Halloween, consider one of these games and you will have a fantastic, scary time.
