Idea #1
You have a hot barbeque planned. All your family and friends will be there. It is going to be a hot day. So how about a cool cake? This is easy and fun. Fresh fruit is always a tasty way to create a cake to remember. Here are the simple steps. Then you design it as you want.
Start with a basic white cake. This can be any store brand cake you want. Make this cake in a 13 x 9 inch pan. All you will need is the cake, some water, ½ cup of water, and three eggs. Then once the cake is made, cool it completely. Then remove from pan, and put the cake on a flat sheet, or piece of cardboard covered in tin foil. This creates a nice effect for the colors
After the cake is cooled, it is time to create the background. The best frosting is white butter cream frosting. Butter cream frosting stays stiffer in the heat of the day. However, whip cream frosting tastes better, so it is up to you.
Now it is time for the fruit. The idea here is to create an American Flag on top of the cake using blueberries in the upper left corner and then strawberries and raspberries for the red and white stripes. You can use only strawberries, or only raspberries if you would prefer.
You may not get the right amount of stripes and stars, however you can get the basic idea. This cake is not only a great decoration, but it is great to eat!
