Moms love to get cards for Mother’s Day, and they especially love to get a homemade card. Whether the card has a few scribbles or is a water colored masterpiece, Mom will cherish the time and effort you put into making her Mother’s Day special. Best of all you can make a card that reflects what is so special about your mother.  These cards are easy to make and use easy to find craft materials. So before you rush out to the newest store to buy a card for Mom, here are cards you can make for Mother’s Day-

Colorful Butterfly Cards-Mom will love this colorful butterfly card, made from construction paper. This craft is good even for the youngest crafters.

What you will need:

Directions for the project: To begin, take two pieces of construction papers and fold them in half. This makes two card shapes. The next step is to put one folded card inside the other one. Have the child draw half a butterfly along the fold of one of them. Firmly hold the two cards together and then carefully cut along the fold of one of them. You should end up with two butterflies. Separate the butterflies, fold one again and draw a smaller butterfly within it. Carefully cut along the line you just drew. Use the punch to make a series of holes, along the edges of the two pieces you just cut. Glue one of the smaller pieces onto the larger, uncut butterfly. Turn over the larger butterfly and glue the smaller cut piece, to the other side. Now you need to attach a body for your butterfly. You can cut one out of black or brown construction paper. You will want to glue it to the inside of your butterfly. You can now decorate your butterfly using the markers, crayons, glitter pen or other decorating materials. Your butterfly is now ready, simply write a message of love for mom to open on Mother’s Day.

“Purse”onal Greetings-This special handbag will hold lots of love for Mom on Mother’s Day.

What you will need:

Directions for the project: The first step is to decorate both sides of the heavy paper or cardstock. Keep in mind that one side will be for the outside of the purse, and the other side will be for the lining. You can use the paints to make a fashionable design on the outside, while the ink can be used with a small stamp, for a design, for the inside. It is important to make sure to allow the paints and ink to dry completely. When the paper is completely dry, turn it with the liner print being face up. Carefully fold up the bottom 4 inches of the paper. Then you can draw a purse body shape, on the doubled part of the paper, and a handle on the remaining single layer of paper. Carefully cut out the shape of the purse. Be sure to cut an arc, just below the handle, to form the purse’s closure flap. Use the craft glue to put the jewels onto the handle of the purse. You will also need to glue on a single jewel to the flap, for a latch. The final step is to allow the glue to dry completely. Then you can write Mom a Mother’s Day message, on the liner of the purse, before you fold the card closed.
