Making a coupon book for your mom for Mother’s Day can be a great way to let her know how much you appreciate all that she does. A coupon book can be a great way for you to return the favor by doing some things for her. Best of all you can make the coupon book a highly personalized gift, so if your mom would appreciate the lawn being mowed (without having to nag you) or a pedicure at the local nail salon, you can include those coupons in her book. Coupon books can be made by every crafter, at every age, and be a reflection of your unique and special relationship with your mom. So if you want to give mom a great gift this Mother’s Day, here are some ideas for coupon books to get you started-
Mother’s Day Coupon Book from a Greeting Card-This clever craft uses a Mother’s Day card as the outside of your coupon book. Those crafters who feel they aren’t artistic may love putting this project together. Best of all this makes your usual Mother’s Day card even more special.
What you will need:
- A Mother’s Day card
- 5 sheets of paper in a complimentary color to your greeting card.
- Scissors
- Hole punch
Directions for the project: Purchase a Mother’s day greeting card. Cut the sheets of paper to the same length and width as the greeting card. Punch 2 holes along the folded edge of the greeting card. Punch one hole 1 inch down from the top of the card and another hole 1 inch up from the bottom of the card. Place the 5 cut sheets of paper inside the greeting card and mark where the punched holes are on the paper; punch out the holes on the paper. Think of at least 5 different coupons that mom will love redeeming. Write the coupon and have the child draw a picture on each sheet of paper. Carefully assemble the paper coupons inside the greeting card. Thread a ribbon through the holes on the card and tie a bow to secure the book together. Place the greeting card book in its envelope and give it to mom on Mother’s Day morning.
Mother’s Day Coupon Story Book Craft-This clever craft allows you to dream up a fairy tale that includes favors for mom in the plot. You will then write them down in a pre-made book to give to Mom on Mother’s Day. This craft can easily be adapted to all ages and crafting levels.
What you will need:
- A hardbound book with blank pages
- Pen
- Imagination
Directions for the project: Buy a hardbound book with blank pages specifically for kids to write stories in. Have the child (or teenager) think of a simple story that can be written in the book that includes at least 5 favors the kids can do for mom such as “That morning, the princess cleaned her room as a favor for her mommy.” You can even write “Favor Coupon” in big letters on the page along with illustrations. Keep in mind that the book may contain more pages than favors offered which can be filled in with more parts of the story and pictures. Wrap up the book as a gift and present it to mom on Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day Coupon Book with photos-This charming craft is easy to make and will add a humorous twist to your Mother’s Day coupon book.
What you will need:
- Paper for the coupon book
- Markers
- Photos for every coupon (described below)
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Ribbon to tie the book together
- Crayons and other art materials for decorating the cover.
Directions for the project: The first step is to determine what each coupon will say. Then you will need a photograph showing you doing the coupon. For example-mowing the lawn, doing the dishes etc. Once you have the photos, attach each one to the coupon and describe the favor below the picture. Make sure that Mom will be able to tear off the bottom coupon, and keep the photos. Once the coupons are finished, design a cover. Put the book together and punch two holes. Thread the ribbon through, tie a bow and your coupon book is finished.
