Phoons from Around the World
May 5, 2006 -- From John Darrow, a reader from San Jose, California, who is affiliated with the site
People around the world send their photos to this family-oriented web site. Every photo must meet one requirement: it must include at least one person standing on one foot in a running-like pose (nicknamed the “Phoon” pose). The fun for the viewer is not seeing the pose, but seeing how many different people have done this pose in so many interesting places. It is a fun way to travel the world from your Internet chair.

My personal favorite section of the site is “PIC PROJECTS” a series of fun and easy homemade photography arts and crafts projects including how to make rubber stamps, personalized cakes and cookies, personalized calendars, personalized gift wrapping papers, fun frames, photo tinting, etc.

This is the most beautifully designed website I think I’ve seen. Anyone with an interest in photography and/or nature would enjoy surfing around on this one. It contains calendar pages with award-winning photos that can be printed out and has a photography contest you can enter. The photos can be used as your wallpaper. There is a portion of the site which interviews folks who make nature related items, such as mobiles, birdhouses, etc. which even contains videos of them explaining their craft.
