This website has two online libraries with over 2,500 free, public-domain books and other resources; all online. One library is for Great Lakes region history, including the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. The other is the, “Century Past Free Online Library.” It’s a diverse collection of books and magazines that would have been found in a small American public library in the 1920s.

Distance between cities is a free tool that allows kids to discover how far away are cities from each other within the US. It also gives information about how long it may take to drive from one city to another one and draws on a map the best travel route by car.
Teach your kids more about US geography while they have fun discovering interesting facts like which are the most separated cities in our country, how far away does grandma live, etc.

My kids and I have a lot of fun on this free site – and learn a lot about maps and US geography, too! The site features over 1 million different geological features, searchable by feature, county, city, state, or zip code. You can print your maps out, and have a treasure hunt or just go exploring around your area. We have used this site for scout projects, too.
