If one enjoys books, I recommend Hearts Torn Asunder: Trauma in the Civil War's Final Campaign in North Carolina The author includes PTSD-related behaviors & experiences from soldiers & civilians on both sides -- during and after the war. The weariness and physical changes caused by exposure are clearly documented and awful to contemplate.

For Civil War relics, I recently lost an auction for an excavated CSA wishbone buckle by just a few cents. Now I'm eyeing a French Revolution saber and 1810 pattern shako plate for my Napoleonic French collection, and I'm praying they don't go before I've got the funds to pick them up haha

The building blocks of Civil War chains of command were regiments. On paper a regiment was made up of 1,000 men. So, two regiments = a brigade, four brigades = a division, three divisions = a corps plus artillery & quartermasters. (+/-) 10,000 -12,000 men is the book solution strength of a corps.

Little has been written about the Union army brigade bands that served during the Civil War years of 1862-65. Even less is known about the activities of the regimental bands from the same period. The notion that these regimental bands were eliminated by the 1862 issuance of General Order No. 91 has been found to be misleading.

Great insight on the use of the chapeau de bras and fore-aft bicorne, RedRover! Though these Civil War era ones look quite snazzy, I must say that my favorite US military bicorne is the one that was used by the army during the War of 1812. Illustration showing two officers with some US riflemen:

Looking in my Uniforms of the Civil War book by Robin Smith and Ron Field it has a section on Florida from pgs. 174 to 177. It says that "There were no state dress regulations and no regimental uniforms in Florida until 1861.
