NASA to Change How It Points Hubble Space Telescope
11 Mar 2025 at 6:47pm
After completing a series of tests and carefully considering the options, NASA announced Tuesday work is underway to transition its Hubble Space Telescope to operate using only one gyroscope (gyro).
Hubble View of Entire SWEEPS Field | HubbleSite
5 Mar 2025 at 10:21pm
This Hubble Space Telescope image shows a dense collection of stars crammed together in the Milky Way galaxy's ancient central hub. The region surveyed represents one entire field of the Sagittarius Window Eclipsing Extrasolar Planet Search (SWEEPS) program. The region is 26,000 light-years away.
NASA's Webb, Hubble Telescopes Affirm Universe's Expansion Rate, Puzzle ...
20 Mar 2025 at 5:21am
Now, Hubble and NASA?s James Webb Space Telescope have tag-teamed to produce definitive measurements, furthering the case that something else ? not measurement errors ? is influencing the expansion rate.

Their research, conducted using the Hubble Space Telescope, concludes that the supermassive black hole in M87 is displaced from the galaxy center. At right is a large-scale image of galaxy M87 taken in 1998 with Hubble's Wide-Field Planetary Camera 2.
What Are Hubble and Webb Observing Right Now? NASA Tool Has the Answer
2 Apr 2025 at 2:46pm
NASA's Space Telescope Live provides an interactive way to explore the most accurate, up-to-date, publicly available information on current, past, and upcoming observations by NASA?s Hubble and Webb space telescopes.
NASA's Hubble Restarts Science in New Pointing Mode
29 Mar 2025 at 12:03am
NASA successfully transitioned operations for the agency?s Hubble Space Telescope to an alternate operating mode that uses one gyro, returning the spacecraft to daily science operations Friday. The telescope and its instruments are stable and functioning normally.
NASA?s Hubble Sees Martian Moon Orbiting the Red Planet
31 Mar 2025 at 11:13am
The sharp eye of NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has captured the tiny moon Phobos during its orbital trek around Mars. Because the moon is so small, it appears star-like in the Hubble pictures. Over the course of 22 minutes, Hubble took 13 separate exposures, allowing astronomers to create a time-lapse video showing the diminutive moon's orbital ...
Hubble Reveals Details of a Newly Born Planetary Nebula
4 Mar 2025 at 9:01am
Astronomers have caught a peek at a rare moment in the final stages of a star's life: a ballooning shroud of gas cast off by a dying star flicking on its stellar light bulb. The Hubble telescope has captured the unveiling of the Stingray nebula (Hen-1357), the youngest known planetary nebula.
Three-Year Study of Young Stars with NASA's Hubble Enters New Chapter
6 Mar 2025 at 3:08am
In the largest and one of the most ambitious Hubble Space Telescope programs ever executed, a team of scientists and engineers collected information on almost 500 stars over a three-year period. This effort offers new insights into the stars' formation, evolution, and impact on their surroundings.
Hubble Space Telescope Completes Eighth Year Of Exploration
4 Apr 2025 at 1:43am
Hubble's efficient black hole hunter, the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS), has measured the increasing speed of a disk of gas orbiting a black hole in M84, located 50 million light-years away in the Virgo cluster of galaxies.
