Coyote or Wolf? - Arkansas Hunting
13 May 2025 at 4:10am
A few times in my life I wondered if I was seeing a really big coyote or a wolf in Arkansas or driving across the plains in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas and Nebraska. Then I saw some real wolves in northern Minnesota and I knew that I'd never seen a wolf before.

I use the Lone Wolf hand climber and it is hands down the best climber I have ever owned. Comfortwise it's not on the top of the list, but I can easily do 10-15 all day sits a year in it. The trade off of comfort for weight, silence and packability is well worth it. It climbs easy, its the quietest and most rock solid stand I have used.
7.62x39 on deer - Arkansas Hunting

For the last couple years I have used the 7.62x39 cartridge to deer hunt with. Yesterday I hunted with my SKS. Wolf Polyformance 123 grain hollow points are a great deer.cartridge. I have killed a half dozen deer with the cartridge and the bullet always mushrooms and fragments. Not bad for surplus $7 a box ammo.

Then changed to Wolf fang's...By my math, you can rig a hundred of either for about the same price with the driver for whichever one you choose. Now I'm kinda leaning toward Fox Hollow super stakes. I'm just wondering if they can really be used over and over without breaking, which is the major drawback of the other 2, having to re-rig frequently.

I live on 5 acres and am lucky enough to not have neighbors in the direction I shoot when I hunt. I'm using a CVA Wolf and take very short shots. The buck I killed last year was maybe 10 yards away. I was using a Traditions Plinker lead hollow-point and I'm considering a different bullet this year.

The platform is a diy that I used an old lone wolf loc on seat to do. It cams over and is rock solid. Small h2 saddle with leg straps, back pack that holds the set up pretty well, 2 hss tree tethers, one has a mechanical ascender that operates like a ropeman, and have tethrd hys strap ran through a pad that I rest my knees on.
