More and more parents desire to take a nice, close look at their child’s MySpace profile these days. These parents aren’t necessarily the nosy type—even though looking at a child’s MySpace profile might seem nosy. No, these parents are concerned because the Internet is an increasingly dangerous place. They want to know what their children are up to—whom they’re talking with, what they’re seeing, buying, learning, and so forth.

Finding a child’s MySpace profile, however, seems like a complicated thing to do. It isn’t! In fact, finding a child’s MySpace profile is as easy as 1-2-3. That said, let’s look at three steps guaranteed to help you find your child’s MySpace profile.

1.Finding your child’s MySpace profile easy as 1-2-3 means that you first have to create your own MySpace profile. Fortunately, creating your own MySpace profile is as easy as 1-2-3 as well. All you have to do is sign up. We’d suggest, though, that you use a fake name when you sign up and also that you keep your email address private. That way, your child won’t know that you’re monitoring his or her activity on the Internet. He or she will see you as a stranger just checking in.

2.Once you’ve signed up for a MySpace account, you’re ready to locate your child’s account, easy as 1-2-3. You do this by clicking on search and then on find a friend. Once you’re on find a friend, there are a few ways in which you can locate your child’s MySpace profile. You can enter your child’s name, email address, and state and zip code. Now, chances are that your child has used a different name, or at least altered their personal information some. Therefore, you won’t be able to find his or her profile that way (unless you ask him or her directly for it, or ask one of his or her friends). It’s also likely that your child has either decided to keep his or her email private, or is using an email address that you’re not aware of. If that’s the case, you’ll have to use your state and zip code in order to find your child’s MySpace profile easy as 1-2-3.

1.When you enter your zip code and state, you can narrow down the radius to (for example) ten or twenty miles around your house. This will simplify the list amazingly. Then all you have to do is scroll down the photographs until you come to your child’s, click on it, and you’re there. Most MySpace users use an actual photograph on their profile. There’s a small chance, however, that your child hasn’t; that he or she has used a picture of his or her favorite cartoon character or movie star, for example. This means that you’ll have to do a little detective work in locating your child’s MySpace profile. Remember, though, that if you can find your child’s friends’ MySpace profiles, it’s just as good as finding your child’s.

2.Let’s add a fourth step as well. Finding and monitoring your child’s MySpace profile means that you’ll want to keep your activities secret. You’ll want to cover your tracks when you find and monitor your child’s MySpace profile. This isn’t complicated: simply go to Internet Options and click on Clear History every time you visit your child’s MySpace profile. That way you can know if anything dangerous is occurring in your child’s life, yet keep your knowledge private until the right time. Also, be aware that there are plenty of sites on the Internet set up to help parents know more about the uses and abuses of MySpace. You’re part of a wide network of concerned parents, and knowing that might help you feel better about the action you’ve decided to take.
