Let’s look at some steps that you can follow to find your child’s MySpace profile, even if they use false information.
1.First of all, if you want to find your child’s MySpace profile you’re going to have to sign up for a MySpace profile yourself! Fortunately, this is a very easy thing to do. All you have to do is go to MySpace’s site to get started.
2.We suggest that you use false information when signing up for a MySpace profile. That is, make up a name for yourself—also, choose to keep your email address private. You don’t want your child to know that you’re keeping tabs on him or her. This really would defeat the purpose of getting a MySpace profile in the first place. Remember, you’re finding your child’s MySpace profile in order to get an inside look at a world you’re normally barred from. Finding your child’s MySpace profile will allow you to see what they’re up to insofar as drugs and other dangerous things are concerned. Hopefully, your child’s MySpace profile will reveal no such information! But it’s better to be safe than sorry.
3.Now that you’ve gotten your own MySpace profile, you can begin searching for your child’s MySpace profile. Again, this is a fairly easy thing to do. All you’ve got to do is click on search, and then find a friend. The friend you’re looking for, obviously, is your child—but keep in mind that a great way to find your own child is to find his or her friends. That is, if you’re having a problem finding your child’s MySpace profile, look for your child’s friends’ profiles. Go ahead, look up twenty of them—one of them is bound to lead you somewhere.
1.Before that, however, you can use your child’s first and last name, email address, and state and zip code in order to find their MySpace profile. It’s possible that your child has used a fake name. It’s possible that your child has used an email address that you’re not aware of. No matter, you can still type in your state and zip code and have the search engine narrow down your options to, say, all the MySpace profiles that live within ten to twenty miles of your house.
2.Once you’ve got the list narrowed down, you can find your child’s MySpace profile by simply going down the row of pictures until you find your child’s picture or a picture of one of your child’s friends. Click on the picture, and presto!—you’re there. Again, it’s possible that your child has used a picture of his or her favorite cartoon character (for example) to represent him or her, but the majority of MySpace users use their own picture to identify themselves. The possibility of your child doing otherwise, however, means that you might have to do a little sleuthing in order to find his or her MySpace profile.
3.One last tip. You’ve gone a long way to hide your identity on MySpace so that you can check up on your child’s progress (or regress) unbeknownst to him or her. The last thing you want to do, then, is make it obvious that you’ve been doing such checking up. This means that you’ll want to erase your history of visited web sites every time you visit your child’s MySpace profile. You can do this by simply clicking on Internet Options and then Clear History. Now, all of this may seem to be quite sneaky, and it is, in a way. But you’re your child’s parent—it’s up to you to make sure that he or she is out of danger.
