Can I Send Tweets to Facebook?

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

Are you addicted to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook? You can easily connect the two sites together and save yourself a ton of time when you are posting status updates and tweets. Hopping back and forth between the sites to make sure you post the same message on both sites for your friends or customers can take up a lot of your time and you may end up missing some important information on one of the sites. Here is the good news, you can now send your Twitter Tweets to Facebook. All you need to do is install the Facebook app onto your Twitter page and you are good to go.

Things to consider before linking the sites
When you are linking the two sites together, you need to understand the difference between the two sites. Facebook is commonly used for social-networking so people can catch up with their old pals and talk to their friends. Twitter is a micro-blogging site that focuses more on sending specials and quick news updates and information to your followers. Businesses and individuals use Twitter as a method to catch up on the latest information online instead of searching through people’s profiles to view their latest family pictures. Since the two sites are different, it’s important to assess how often you Tweet because this may annoy some of your Facebook followers if you are sending new messages to Facebook every 10 minutes or so.

How do you link Twitter and Facebook together?
To link your Twitter page to Facebook, you need to sign into your Twitter page. You must also have your Facebook user name and password ready since you will need to type it into one of the pages when it asks you to. Log into your Twitter account and click on “Settings” and then click on “Profile” so you can find the Facebook app. Next you will look for “web” and then search for the blue link that says “You can also add Twitter to your website here.” Once you do this, you need to look for Facebook and then you can install the Facebook app on Twitter. The app will prompt you to allow access from both accounts to build the link between the two. Once it is installed, you can then start posting status updates to your Facebook account from your Twitter page.

Watch your Tweets
Once the two social media sites are linked, you need to be careful about what you are tweeting. Your Facebook followers may not be interested in what you are talking about on Twitter and your hundreds of tweets will simply clutter their profile pages. They will then choose to ignore the posts you are sending which can defeat the purpose of having the two sites linked together. If you want people to click on the links you have posted within your Tweets, you must use the right type of language that will inspire them to do something. You also need to be careful about what you say as some of your followers may differ between the two sites and what is acceptable on ones site may not be acceptable on the other site.

Is there an option to choose which Tweets to send?
If you don’t want to have all of your Tweets appear on your Facebook page, you can install the Selective Twitter app. This app gives you the chance to update your tweets but it is up to you to choose which ones you would like to have listed on Facebook. Once the app is installed, you just need to use the code “#fb” before every tweet that you would like to send to Facebook.
