Goodreads is a social network that revolves around book reviews and recommendations. Founded in 2007, Goodreads has 16 million members, 30,000 book clubs and over 23 million book reviews. And Goodreads recently announced that they are being acquired by Amazon.
For me, the best part of Goodreads is their recommendation engine. Rate just twenty books, and Goodreads will serve up recommendations in each of your favorite genres. There is also a social networking component that I’m sure interests Amazon. I can imagine all sorts of ways Amazon could collaborate/integrate with Goodreads. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.
