What is Facebook Year in Review?

Facebook Year in Review is a view of you and your FB friends’ 2013 highlights. So what constitutes a highlight? Facebook doesn’t explain the details of its algorithm, but you’ll see photos and status updates that were popular with your friends, probably measured in likes and comments.

Facebook says that all existing privacy settings from individual posts and photos are obeyed in the Year in Review. So friends that you’ve excluded from posts originally, will still not be able to see them.

Not everyone has a Year in Review, however. If you haven’t posted “enough” (whatever that it is!) you’ll get a notice saying “It doesn’t look like you posted enough in 2013 to see your year in review.” You’ll get a similar notice if you try to view someone’s public profile that doesn’t have a lot of public posts.
