Good news coming soon for families using Android-based tablets. Last week Google announced a new program for app-developers who want to label their apps as “family friendly.” When app developers sign up to be “family friendly” their apps will undergo an additional review by Google. No details on how consumers will find these apps, but I imagine there will be a specific Family Friendly section in the Google Play app store.
Google has announced that these apps will need to be ESRB rated “Everyone” or “Everyone 10+”. And that each app will need to meet a “stringent legal and policy bar” and undergo a specialized review.
