A Corny Valentine

Switch to Desktop/Mobile View

Many see Valentine’s Day as the season for corny sentiments, so tell your teacher (or a friend) she’s tops with a card that doubles as a snack. You can complete this project in under an hour.

What you will need:

Scissors
White card stock or poster board
Ruler
Red marker
Glue stick
Individually wrapped packages of microwave popcorn
Masking or clear tape

Instructions for the project:

Start by cutting out a popcorn-box shape (recommended size is 8 inches tall and 6 inches across at the top) and a smaller rectangle for a label from the card stock. For the box you can also find templates online or purchase ready to decorate boxes from your local craft store. Using a ruler and marker, draw lines on the front of the box. Add a message and a border to the label, and then glue it in place. Then you can tape the popcorn to the back so that it sticks up above the container. Some suggested messages are:

To a pop!-pop!-pop!-ular teacher
I don’t mean to be corny, but you’re the greatest!
I’m e-kernel-ly yours
