Valentine’s Day is a time when you give and receive gifts of love, and what could say love better than a gift of your time and talent? A home made Valentine craft makes a great gift, and the following are some fun ideas for how you can make easy Valentine’s Day crafts that will also be great gifts:

Felt heart pins:
This craft is simple, helps the recipient better celebrate the holiday in style, and is so fun and easy to make you will find yourself giving them to everyone. What you need is a safety pin, some felt, some bead eyes, markers, glue, and scissors.

What you are going to do is create a felt heart pin. This is something that can be worn pinned to a shirt, or on a backpack, and lightens the mood and helps celebrate the holiday. To create this easy craft you want to start by cutting a heart out of felt. Do not make it too big, as you need to be able to attach your safety pin to it to wear it. Then decorate your heart, give it a face, or a message using glitter glue, bead eyes, markers, etc. Glue the heart to the safety pin, or if you do not mind some pin showing, simply stick the pin through it, and wear. Your kids will love to have this on their backpack, and it also makes a great gift for teachers, friends, and coworkers.

Valentine’s place mats:
This is a fun Valentine’s craft to use as a gift for Grandparents, or for the whole family. What you are going to do is create place mats. You will need either vinyl that is printed in a Valentine’s theme, or large pieces of card stock. If you have vinyl your craft is really easy. You just take some butcher paper and make a pattern using the outline of an existing place mat, then cut out the vinyl and you are done. Or, you can go in depth a little more on this craft. Take your card stock, and cut it in the shape of your place mat. Then take photos that portray love, so of your family, things you love doing, the grandkids, etc. Adhere the photos, mount them first if you want, decorate with hearts and fun little Valentine’s designs. Then take your cardstock placemats to your local library and have them laminated. Cut them out, and give them as gifts.

Valentine Plant Pokes:
This is a fun gift for the gardener or plant lover in your life. All you need are some chop sticks, small wooden heart cut outs, photos, and modge podge. Grandparents love stuff like this. You are going to take your hearts and cut photos out that are slightly smaller than the hearts. Then paint the heart edges. Use modge podge to cover the entire heart, place the photo on it, then use more modge podge to cover the top, make sure it is really flat with no air bubbles. Get plenty of modge podge on the edges. Once it is dry, use wood glue to attach to a chop stick. Then you have a fun plant poke. If it is for the grandparents, use photos of the grandchildren. If it is for a boyfriend or girlfriend, use photos of yourself. There is a lot of variation here, and you can even give the plant poke in a plant if you want to.
