Night

I lie here late at night
Sleep eludes me
A word, a face haunts my thoughts
His image woven in the fabric of my mind
Sense escapes me whene’er I see his face float before my eyes
So many things I’d like to say
Yet my tongue is silent with fear
A terror that he would reject me
I, a common coward, lie awake thinking of all that he is
His calm, clear eyes, full of depth
His bantering voice, betraying a sharp wit
His nimble hands revealing a gentle strength
My psyche clasps the image of this man of God
As I stare blankly into the night
