Unity candles are an essential part to a wedding. They are something that everyone sees and admires. If you are going to make your own, there are tons of ways to do it. You can use just about anything to create your own personal style and your own Unity candle that will last you forever. Let’s look at some Unity candle crafts.
If you really want the candle to literally be made yourself, then start by making your own candle. There are lots of ways to make them and they are actually extremely easy to make, but they take a lot of time to make. If you have the time and patience, then go ahead. If not, just buy a plain pillar candle that is about seven to nine inches tall.
You need to design the candle first. Look at the plain candle you made or bought and figure out what you want it to look like. What quotes or sayings do you want on it? What colors do you want to use (for this one use colors in your theme and your wedding colors to tie it in)? What decorations do I want on it? Do I want it to look really girly or really classy? Have your future husband help you. Usually they love to be involved in things and remember, they want you to have the wedding of your dreams, but they don’t want you to make everything overly girly and fluffy and covered in lace.
If you are doing the something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue part to a wedding, you can use them all on your Unity candle. You don’t have to have anything extravagant and you can even only use one thing, like the something blue part on the Unity candle with everything else on your wedding dress, or wherever you want it.
Add things into the actual candle. If you are making the candle, you can add things into the fresh wax right before it dries. You have to be fast. Also, you can buy candles that have rhinestones set into them. Or you can also buy candles that have dried flowers in them. They look lovely and help to add to the candle itself.
Use beads and materials that match your wedding gown. If you have a pearl necklace, add pearls to the Unity candle. You don’t want to have the Unity candle look like it shouldn’t be a part of the wedding, so make sure you use colors from your wedding and materials also.
Wrap ribbon around the candle to create a weave or checked effect. You can use many different colors. Also, add quotes or your names and the date. Make bows from ribbon and have ribbon flowing off of the candle.
When you are making your Unity candle, remember to make it your own. Also, use a low heat glue gun so you don’t actually melt the candle. Use things that you love and that you want to celebrate the happiest day of your life with.
