The Inuit Indian groups were famous for two things, Scrimshaw and weaving baskets or shoes from the leather of animals. Moccasins were shoes that many of the Inuit Indians wore as they kept their feet warm during the cold months of the winter. This is a slightly more difficult craft to tackle, but isn’t impossible. Older kids can really gain a sense of satisfaction after learning how to make a simple pair of moccasins or even a basket.
As you can see there are more than just one or two ideas when you take a look at Native American crafts. With so many different Native American groups you are bound to find a craft that’s perfect for what you’re doing.
