Solar system crafts are excellent ways to encourage learning while doing hands-on activities. Solar system crafts are also diverse. You do not have to be an astronaut or a rocket scientist to be able to make a model or draw a picture of the planets. Because a solar system craft generally consists of a lot of round objects, there is no need to look much further than your own front door for materials. You can make plenty of solar system crafts with the stuff you already have at home. All you need to do is add a little creativity and some solar system research. Before you know it, you and your kids will be having fun learning and you did not have to spend a penny or take a trip to the store to make it all happen.
Solar system mobile
A solar system mobile is one of the easiest things that you can make right at home. All you need is some paper, something to color with, string and a hanger or some other object that you can hang your planets on. Start by doing some research about each of the planets. Find out some characteristics about each planet. Find out which of the planets is the biggest and which is the smallest. You will need to know which planets are closest to the sun and which ones are the farthest away. Also, it is fun to know about unique characteristics about each planet like which one is the coldest (you may want to color this planet a “cool” color) and which planet has rings. Have fun adding detail to your planets. As your child gets older then they can do more with their mobile than simply cutting and pasting circles and string. Take your homemade project to the next level. Once you have concluded your work on your planets and the sun, attach each of the planets in their proper order in relation to the sun on the hanger. You are left with a fun solar system craft that didn’t cost you a penny but allowed for a fun time and some learning.
